Our organization is fueled by a host of incredible volunteers. From setting up mobile pantries to making sandwiches and packing lunches to administrative work in our office to helping out at the Saturday Morning Farmer's Market, people just like you are helping to feed Toledo in a thoughtful way. We need your help!
Friday Night Lunch Packing
Every Friday night at 6 p.m., Food For Thought volunteers meet at Trinity Episcopal Church (316 Adams St. in downtown Toledo) to pack lunches for our Saturday picnics. This is one of our most popular volunteer opportunities, mainly because it's a lot of fun! We welcome groups and people of all ages and abilities to help with packing lunches for Saturday distribution.
Each Saturday morning, we leave from Trinity Episcopal Church to share the lunches we've packed with people throughout the downtown Toledo area. Individuals and groups accompany Food For Thought on our normal bus stop routes as we provide food, water or coffee — as well as conversation with the people we meet — sunshine or snowfall. The first route leaves at about 9:45 a.m. and the second leaves at around 11:00 a.m.
Mobile Food Pantries
Food For Thought operates a series of mobile food pantries in the Toledo area throughout the month. Many of these pantries require additional volunteer support to operate. Our mobile food pantries provide emergency food assistance to people in need and allow them to choose from a variety of items, including fresh produce. Visit our calendar here to find our locations and e-mail our volunteer coordinator here to see how you can help!
