Friday Night Lunch Packing
Every Friday night at 6 p.m., Food For Thought volunteers meet at Trinity Episcopal Church (316 Adams St. in downtown Toledo) to pack lunches for our Saturday picnics. This is one of our most popular volunteer opportunities, mainly because it's a lot of fun! We welcome groups and people of all ages and abilities to help with packing lunches for Saturday distribution.
Each Saturday morning, we get to know our neighbors as we share the lunches we've packed with people throughout the downtown Toledo area. Individuals and groups accompany Food For Thought on our normal bus stop routes as we provide food, water or coffee — as well as conversation with the people we meet — sunshine or snowfall. The first route leaves from Trinity Episcopal Church (316 Adams Street) at about 10:00 a.m. and the second leaves at around 11:30 a.m.
Mobile Food Pantries
Food For Thought operates a series of mobile food pantries in the Toledo area throughout the month. Many of these pantries require additional volunteer support to operate. Our mobile food pantries provide emergency food assistance to people in need and allow them to choose from a variety of items, including fresh produce. Visit our calendar here to find our locations and e-mail our assocaite director here to see how you can help!
Food For Thought's warehouse at Lott Indutries acts a storage space for food and the hub of our mobile pantries. We are seeking long term volunteers to lend a hand in our warehouse for a couple hours a week. Be part of the action and actually touch the food that will touch our neighbors' hearts. We promise you'll have fun in a safe warehouse environment with our staff. Contact our warehouse coordinator here to learn more and schedule shifts.
MARCH IS HUNGRY TOO - We ae seeking hosts for our March Is Hungry Too campaign. Sign up to host a party, collect donations, and spread Food For Thought's mission with your friends, family, co-workers, etc. Check out marchishungry.com for more information and to sign up to host.
